Office Building Fire Line Installation

Enviro-Tech Systems, Inc. (ETS) successfully designed and installed a NFPA 13 and NFPA 24-compliant underground fire protection system for a new office building being constructed in Orlando, Florida. The project began with ETS providing detailed design plans, signed and sealed by a licensed Florida Professional Engineer, to secure the necessary permits through the City of Orlando for installation.

The installation process commenced with trenching to connect the 10-inch fire line to the OUC’s water main. The line was then reduced to a 6-inch pipe. ETS installed a new 6-inch backflow preventer, fire department connection, and a 6-inch underground fire main, terminating at 1 foot above the floor foundation, to supply water to the interior fire sprinkler system. Additionally, conduit was buried to integrate the backflow fire alarm devices into the building’s fire alarm panel.

To enhance fire protection coverage, ETS replaced an existing private fire hydrant with a new one and installed an additional new public fire hydrant, which connected to the 6-inch pipe via a gate valve. The entire system underwent rigorous pressure testing at 200 psi to ensure performance and structural integrity. After thoroughly flushing and pressure testing the line, flowing the hydrants, and certifying the backflow preventers, ETS tagged the devices and supplied the client with certified test reports confirming compliance and full functionality of the fire protection system.

This project exemplifies ETS’ expertise in delivering reliable and code-compliant fire protection systems, tailored to meet the specific needs of commercial properties.
